Who Am I?

biography2.gif Brian Lerner is an award winning comedy writer with a trophy on his desk from the 2003 Austin Film Festival Sitcom Teleplay competition to prove it. If you listen closely you can hear him polishing it right now.

Over the years Brian has assumed many varying roles in his professional life including independent film development executive, public relations executive and research assistant and co-editor on the books trendSpotting by author Richard Laermer and Caroline Waxler’s, Stocking Up On Sin.

More recent endeavors include collaborations with Jarrod Gorbel of the band The Honorary Title. Brian spent weeks and weeks over the past few years on tour with the band documenting the world of an indie rock band and their climb to a major label. This intimate time with the band and Jarrod spawned numerous ancillary collaborations, most of which will make you laugh ’til you cry. As a producer, Brian has worked extensively in the realm of DVD bonus content creating original features for cult TV titles such as “Xena: Warrior Princes,” “Nowhere Man,” “Highlander,” “Hercules” and the Day Time Emmy nominated show “Sunday Morning Shootout.”

At the age of 13, Brian convinced his parents to buy him a guitar and guitar lessons and he went on to become an accomplished musician, making it halfway through music school before coming to his senses and choosing a much more stable career choice in screenwriting and directing. His parents were hesitant to encourage his interest in the guitar since his devotion to the drums, saxophone, piano and computers ended prematurely after great expense. Brian would like to take this time to thank his sister who sacrificed straight teeth so that he could have a guitar and amplifier. In hindsight, it was a selfish decision and he takes full responsibility for her tormented youth.

First and foremost, Brian is a comedy writer with multiple TV and feature film scripts collecting dust on his desk. Please have a heart and give him a reason to dust them off and drop them in the mail.
